Every year on 15th August, we celebrate the glory of Free India and uphold the pride and honour of being an Indian. Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports with the Government of India has launched the campaign called “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, a Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 to promote the idea of “Physical/Virtual Run”, encouraging fitness and helping us to get freedom from obesity, laziness, stress, anxiety, and all the other diseases. Why is it important to recognize this freedom from all diseases?
India faces malnutrition of every kind, including wasting, stunting, being underweight, and even obesity. Around 1.9 billion adults are overweight or obese, while 462 million are underweight where Women, infants, children, and even adolescents are at risk of low health that reduces productivity, and hinders economic growth, which can perpetuate a cycle of poverty and ill-health.
